More – than – a members club
13 September
"The public-minded private members' club that is demolishing stereotypes."
Written by Ed Vickers
When I say ‘private members club’ you think… all sorts. The House of St Barnabas, however, is doing things differently. Purposing their swish Grade I listed pad in Soho to serve those usually out of the club.
Their 12-week employment academy supports people affected by homelessness through hospitality and customer service training. Breaking cycles of homelessness by setting their trainees up for long-term stable work.
So far, they’ve supported over 50 people through the academy and aims to get to a 100 per year.
Consider us well and truly inspired.
See how you could get involved and check out a poem below that one of their Alumni, John Smallshaw, wrote. Read by Brian Cox. It’s beautiful.
